These crocheted wires of internal organs by Michigan artist Anne Mondro exhibits her personal interpretations of human anatomy. Each sculpture requires hundreds of hours of Mondro’s labor and is made of thin steel and copper wire. “Crocheting wire enables me to create interwoven forms that are structurally strong, yet visually and physically light,” Mondro shares. “The forms allude to ethereal silhouettes associated with shadows, ghosts or decay.” Mondro doesn’t limit her artwork to body parts. She also has crocheted mechanical objects like her recreation of a Model T engine in 2011 which was on exhibition at the Powerhouse Museum. Like
